Our Story
How it all started!
Fantasy Ranch is the dream of Keshia and Ana Swanlund, two sisters who have been crazy about horses since they were old enough to walk! We love playing hobby games in our free time and we grew up playing classics like The Farming Game, Herd Your Horses, Risk and more! We were inspired to create our first game because we wanted to combine our two hobbies.
We’re still horse crazy with a current herd of 4 horses:
We grew up showing horses in a variety of disciplines and something we love about creating horse board games is the chance to show kids how many different things there are to do with horses!
All the pictures for the horse cards in the game are taken by us (except for 4). We’ve gotten about 10,000 pictures at different horse events and had a great time picking out just the right horses to put in the game! Breed and color diversity are our top priority but we love experimenting with different angles and poses.
Our first game Fantasy Stables Regular & Junior Edition were very successful, selling 5,000 copies in 3 years allowing us to continue our passion. We traveled extensively promoting Fantasy Stables – from Massachusetts and Virginia to Alberta to Arizona and Texas we have crisscrossed the country meeting wonderful horse people and creating fans of the game along the way. We can’t wait to do the same with Fantasy Ranch!
Luckily within the first year of selling Fantasy Stables, Amazon offered to buy our games and resell them under their own brand – supporting our small business and also allowing our game to be promoted and sold on a much larger platform than we could otherwise offer.
